You mean you STILL haven't heard about Mandy Lemons? That's about to change. Mandy Lemons sings the blues, and her astonishing powerhouse voice with its mix of southern fried soul and distinctive blues phrasing makes her an instant cult favorite anywhere her music is played. You certainly wouldn't expect so much sound to come out of such a small figure, and you can clearly hear the influences of Koko Taylor, Etta James, Big Maybelle, and of course Janis Joplin. Big shoes to fill, indeed. The blues scene is dominated by guitar totin' men, but Mandy easily stands her own, and can go toe to toe with the best of them. Her original songs are a mixture of Texas Blues and Americana, with lyrics reminiscent of her hard scrabble upbringing. Born and raised in Texas, Ms. Lemons now lives in New York City. Her landmark debut CD, 'Low Society', produced by Low Society members Sturgis Nikides & Bobby MacIntyre will be released shortly. Standout tracks include 'I'm A Woman', 'Long Black Limousine' and her homage to Etta James, 'I'd Rather Be Blind'. Be sure to catch Mandy and Low Society live, you won't regret it.
